After suffering a unanimous decision loss to Rolando Romero in May—a fight that saw him knocked down in the second round—Ryan “King Ry” Garcia is already looking for redemption. The 25-year-old star recently underwent a second surgery on his right hand and has resumed training, with a potential return to the ring as early as December.
Garcia has made it clear that his top priority is a rematch with Romero. However, tensions with his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, could complicate matters. According to Garcia, the post-fight rematch offer was “bad,” and he believes De La Hoya may be trying to hand Romero’s title shot to another fighter instead.
While the Romero rematch remains Garcia’s preferred path, other high-profile names have been floated for his comeback—among them Manny Pacquiao, Teofimo Lopez, and a second meeting with Devin Haney. For now, though, no dates or official matchups have been confirmed.
One thing is certain: whether it’s Romero or another big name, Ryan Garcia’s return is already one of the most talked-about storylines in boxing.
